Title: Annotated Sorcerer: First, and second, reactions
Post by: Tor Erickson on September 16, 2013, 11:52:06 PM
So got the Annotated Sorc a couple weeks ago and have been reading through it since. I wanted to post something about my reaction.

Let's see, how do I phrase this. Oh, I know, how about:

Yes. FUCK YES.

And basically,  thank you, Ron, for having the balls - yes, the big, hairy balls - to write and publish in this annotated format when I'm CERTAIN that there were some who were like 'you're crazy, just do Sorcerer 2.0'. The annotated version is an entire book of my favorite kind of RPG writing: writing full of wisdom that has been wrung from days and years of real life role-playing. And I also want to say thank you, Ron, for continuing to so rigorously observe and analyze the hobby of role-playing and life in general and commit those observations and that analysis to words. Goddamn.

Thanks Tor! It's not all about me, though.  Let's not overlook the commitment and openness found in the threads beginning with "To Tor, Jesse, and Paul," or the game I quoted in the back of The Sorcerer's Soul, or the great conversation with you and your dad at Navy Pier. If it weren't for meeting great people, I'd see no point to the internet or to publishing games.

Best, Ron

Hello Ron,

Your comments are appreciated, thank you!

I'm pretty amped to play Sorc&Sword this weekend (they ended up choosing the "dreaded" Spanish medieval option, and it's turning out awesome).

I love the format of the Annotated Sorcerer book as well, although I confess I thought my copy was messed up when I found a few duplicated pages. Then I realized that the annotations just went more than a page. It's nice to be able to focus on the ideas that tie into specific rules and the annotation really does that.

I'd buy a Sorcerer 2.0 as well, however, if you made one. :-D
