Title: Freeware PDF
Post by: GeeX Underground on March 09, 2008, 07:39:39 PM
Currently I am using PDF995 in order to create my PDF documents and it works wonderfully... if you don't mind visiting a sponsor's website every time you make a PDF. However, this program does nothing more than allow me to create PDF documents from my word processor. Is there any freeware out there that would allow me to do such things as create bookmarks, insert hyperlinks, or even create a custom layout? Any information would be great. Thanks.

Scribus (http://scribus.sf.net) can create PDFs natively. It is a full blown page layout program, and needs as much training as Quark or InDesign would to generate useful output.

If you're still looking for a word-processing based work flow, go no further than OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org), which also creates PDFs natively.

Thanks. I will definitely check them out. I prefer to create a rough draft in a word processor for its obvious simple flow when going back over material but would like to create a presentation that rivals WotC or other big names.
