Title: Game parameters icons (Euro-style)
Post by: Ron Edwards on June 25, 2009, 02:57:17 PM
Does anyone know how to find and use those icons frequently seen on the backs of European games?

They denote number of players, minimum age suggested, time to play, difficulty, and components (dice, cards).

Best, Ron

This is an uneducated guess, but, given the variety I've seen in those icons, I'm going to guess that they are all produced internally.

That said, I'm going to guess that it would be a simple matter to commission a set of those icons for Adept Press that you could use on as many projects as desired.

There's public domain clip art out there that might fit what you're after.

I do layout work for eurogame publishers regularly, so I have plenty of this stuff lying around. Send me a list of what you need to symbolize, and I'll get you some from my personal stash. Seth's right in that most boardgame publishers tend to create these in-house and recycle them from project to project. The whole idea of icons is to be recognizable and universal, though, so there's little reason not to share the ones we used in Zombie Cinema, for example.
