Title: Biased Information Table
Post by: Anatola on May 05, 2011, 03:32:13 AM
I tend to create a lot of high-level information (politics, theology, philosophy) for my game worlds, and sometimes some of this is pertinent to certain characters; based on their backgrounds and abilities, etc. It occurs to me that a lot of this is going to be biased based on their perspective and interests, and not necessarily in a systematic way. I was thinking that it would be interesting to create a table that gives some abstract 'bias' type data so that my players don't go walking into the game with that weird mix of cultural blindness and metagame setting omniscience so typical in RPGs. To make them feel more in it, but not necessarily know what's what.

For some elements, obviously, you'd just want to work out what they're likely to know based on how they play the character and what their history is. But so much of what you are exposed to is really arbitrary, and I am wondering if something almost like a rumor table might work. Or perhaps something like Mythic's Fate Chart.

Any ideas?
