I've seen characters who are practically frothing with rage at the military and their missions, even having fragged a superior officer or too, who still get all dewy over what medal might come their way next.
Haven't got anything significant to add, but this has made me think for a few days so I just wanted to post that. That makes you think.

Oh, I guess I could note that I don't think I atleast have seen any novel or movie have something like that in it. It might come from the dynamic of people playing out characters without a direct aim toward story construction rather than a single author playing them out and perhaps trying to wrap up things into a package at the moment of doing so. Or not?

Hi Greg ,
I have a copy of 3:16 it was a hit with me straight away. Simple and elegant combat, big guns, claws, drop ships, promotion, gibbering marines, I saved the day marines and “ what am I doing I hate this.” (Hatred for home)
To capture all that with such simple rules was great even the game preparation was sorted.
I luckily have two gaming groups the first group struggled with it trying to relate the amount of kills to damage and things, even the concept of the range map. Too abstract was one comment. This was not the whole group, one or two warmed to it. I think tradition Rpgs have rutted there heads.
The second group was a different story it was a big hit lots fun from planet to planet we even returned from one mission successful only to realize aliens had hid among the survivors (Reduce visibility Alien special ability) and were infiltrating the ship. Demotion was on the cards. But we cleared those critters, using ship on board sensors to locate them. (NFA of course.)
Do you have plans for a supplement or something?
I ask because we are getting near to the hatred of home bit. I have some plans for this but I think this part of the game has so much potential. Even a section on the cool things, which were found in play,
My mate has only been playing his weaknesses holding back his strengths for like when the worm turns. hu
Like you say in the book “ it’s not be about the missions”.
We are at the stage in our campaign were things are getting more about the characters.
Cheers for a great game.
