The forge will close down (info & background)

Following the announcement of the starting of the winter phase in the the thread
The Winter of the Forge looms near
, for the people baffled about the concept, I am listing a couple of thread to help them understand the context of all this.
The eventual closing of the Forge and the coming of winter was first announced here, at the time of the Forge Diaspora (at the beginning of 2005):
Diaspora: How I Learned 2 Stop Worrying & Love the Forge
The (longer) explanation is given here:
Interview with Vincent and me
If anybody has the links to other threads about this, feel free to add to the list.

Oops! I almost forgot to update this thread...
Finishing up
is the next thread to look:

What's coming after
Sooner or later, this domain name will house a big wiki. Its main page is a graphic of the Big Model. You can click on any layer and that takes you into the standard wiki pages with explanations, including nested terms, cross-references, and links to the original discussions. The current Forge and the pre-2008 Forge Archive will remain exactly as they are (including articles), but closed to posting, and the wiki basically dips into them, and you can navigate around in them just as you can now, if you want.
I'd like to generate access to some publishing insights and to some "how this game started" thread families as well, but I'm still thinking about how to do it. Maybe those will be part of the wiki, maybe not.
I'm also not psychologically able to stop forum-style posting, I think. So the Adept Press forum will be housed at my own site, and I think I'll have both Actual Play and Game Design get rolling there too - but more in a personalized, Anyway style of discussion format. I'll be posting about my own play experiences and my own game designs, and encourage others to do the same if they feel like getting my input or input from anyone else who happens to frequent the site. I have no idea what sort of demand for this may exist out there.
Some last-minute good-bye threads:
Hey, thanks!
The most important thing I've learned
Questions:
The fate of private messages
Where they are now?
State of the indie publisher
Obviously I will not be able to post here the link to the closing message, but it should be easy to find, just click on

.
Last: do you want something nice and useful to read?
Go here:
http://indie-rpgs.com/archive/index.php?topic=1
("Testing forums")
I know it's only a test post, but then, go here:
http://indie-rpgs.com/archive/index.php?topic=3
And then here:
http://indie-rpgs.com/archive/index.php?topic=4
The continue, increasing the last number from 4 to 5, 6, 7, 8, etc.
When you get to
http://indie-rpgs.com/archive/index.php?topic=29854
, change the url to
http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forge/index.php?topic=29855
and continue, until
http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forge/index.php?topic=33128.0
This should give you something good to read for a while...
(or you could simply learn to use the advance search page, but where is the fun in that?)
