The GNS and Theory Forums
«

I just popped in today to do some reading and though about going back to the beginning of the RPG theory forum. I know they used to be up even though they were closed. I see now that one of the changes in "The Winter Phase" is that they are gone. Are they available on line anywhere else?
If they are not, I'd like to suggest that that be done. They hold some historic interest and really could be educational to people who want to plod through them as to the GNS theory.
Feel free to ignore me though - I not a regular here anymore.
Thanks!

They're here:
http://www.indie-rpgs.com/archive/
That wasn't part of the Winter Phase thing. That was the result of a technical meltdown where The Forge exceeded its database limits and thus had to be split into two arbitrary pieces. At least that's my understanding of what happened.

I'm pretty confident that Ron and Vincent are not planning to take down the forum archives; I don't think I've met as conscientious forum maintainers insofar as respecting the Internet as a collective memory goes. Probably will still have the place up long after everything's locked down and the keys lost, unlike many websites that disappear like they never existed.
That archive thing contains the Forge contents from the beginning of last year backwards, I seem to remember. The reason for a whole subforum only existing there and not in the currently active iteration is that the subforum in question was closed before the cutoff date, and therefore there are no threads that would be in there in the currently active database.

Thanks for the link!
Can they put a link button on the main page? I naturally clicked the archive button only to find four threads (thus leading me to wonder where everything else was).

Yeah, a direct link at the top right of the page would definitely be a nice feature.

Acknowledged! It may be a little while before I get to it.
