I think it might be interesting to do a survey of SA standards.  I'm going to post some questions.  Please feel free to answer - but in the interests of focus, please don't add new questions.  We can discuss in another thread.

(I've summarized the questions in short at the end of the message so you can copy and paste it easily.)

For players:

1) What's the largest number of SA points your character has earned in a single session?

2) How many SA points did your character earn in the last session you played?

3) What was the largest number of SA bonus dice you had on a single roll in the last session you played?

For Seneschals:

4) If you remember, what's the largest number of SA points you've awarded a single character in one session?

5) How many SA points did you award in total to all characters in the last session you played?  (and how many players did you have?)

6) What was the largest number of SA bonus dice one of your NPC's had on a single roll in the last session you played?

For everyone:

7) Do you add SA dice to the Combat Pool, or each roll indifidually?

8) How long is your usual session of TROS? (excluding chatting and eating, etc.)

Quick Summary for your Quoting convenience:

Players:
1) Most SAs you earned in 1 session
2) SA points you earned last session
3) Most SA bonus dice you got last session

Seneschal:
4) Most SA pts to one person in 1 session
5) Total pts given last session (and #of players)
6) Most SA bonus dice for NPC last session

Everyone:
7) Add SAs to CP or every roll?
8) Ave length of session?

I should point out that before the last two sessions, I'd struggled to award points.  That was partly my own fault still having a hangover from D&D where XP was awarded at the end of the session ad hoc, and b) the campaigns fault for not giving the players enough SA situations...
The last two games I've found a hell of a lot easier to get the SAs firing and therefore awarded.  I've tended to a more liberal use of SAs though and its paid off.  I awarded SAs multiple times within one scene for particularly strong actions along their lines.

Also, tonight I had to come up with a minor Legate npc quickly though and forgot his SAs. For the purposes of the story and the game, things went well enough.  To date I don't think I've used any SAs for NPCs though.  One interesting comment at tonights game was that he got a strange feeling when all of a sudden, fifth session into the game SAs were really thrown into the mix, he felt as if his character wasn't so doomed and threatened by the combat system.  This is especially true in Midnight where the bad guys have the upper hand in the extreme.  He now feels the game is less futile from the character's perspective.  He got this sense that SAs were something *magical* or perhaps supernatural.  His character then became a whirling dervish of death creating almost manga style action with screaming leaps from atop an Oruk's corpse hacking at the Legates armour of air scoring a small but devisive hit.  The game really lit up tonight... in short..SAs r0x0r my b0x0rz!

sorry for the tangent ;)

Never played as a player.

Seneschal:
- Most SA pts to one person in 1 session: 5? It's been a little while. I'm sometimes accused of being stingy with SAs, and also tend to give them out at session's end. I'd probably throw more out there if I broke myself of that habit.
- Total pts given last session (and #of players): I don't even remember. We had4 players last session, though.
- Most SA bonus dice for NPC last session: None. I've not introduced any NPCs who've been important enough to need SAs, yet.

Everyone:
- Add SAs to CP or every roll? I'd make the call differently in different situations. I figure I'm doing something way wrong tho', 'cause there've not been a whole lot of situations where my players have been able to augment rolls with SAs, or have needed to.
- Ave length of session? 3-5 hours, occasionally more, depending on player schedules.

FYI, I was Seneschal in Lx's game.
