Title: How it did happen? Why all this theory? And why "Indie"?
Post by: Moreno R. on May 27, 2012, 11:06:49 PM
When people ask me what is all the fuss about "indie games" at the Forge, I point them to an essay and three threads.

The essay is The Nuked Apple Cart (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/articles/12/), written in 1998.

The three threads are:
Definition of Indie RPGs (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=24659.0)
Poison Pages (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=24751.0)
Forge Vision (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=21483.0)

After reading these, the reason for a site desidated to "indie ganes" (and the reason for that specific definition of Indie Games) should be clear.

But...  what about the history of GNS? How did it happen?

This is an account written in 2003 by Ron: Here's the history of GNS (http://indie-rpgs.com/archive/index.php?topic=7398.msg77801#msg77801)

But the Forge is not only about "indie" and about "theory".  The forge is the history of a booth...

This, more than other threads I posted in this subsection, is open to the addition from others that were here at the time.  There are three days left for you do so.

Next, I am going to write about Brain Damage.
