just listened to an actual play audiocast wherein the Dogs came upon a firefight between 2 other parties.
They wanted to assist one side, The Faithful of course, but each in their own ways.
It sounded like the GM said that if a Dog tried shooting people, he'd need to roll gunfighting, but if a Dog tried to go in punching, he'd need to roll physical fighting.
That sounds different than what I believe you were saying above - that once it's gunplay, everyone's rolling gunplay.
