Number of Players?

Hi everyone,
I just got Dogs in the Vineyard and am eager to run a game or two. One question that I have, though, revolves around how many players the genre and mechanics can support. Most of the play recaps that I have read involved two or three dogs. Aside the concerns common to all games, i.e. that more players means less screen time for each, I'm interested to hear people's experiences in running Dogs with more than three dogs, or their thoughts on how well or poorly the mechanics would work in such circumstances.
Thanks!
Brandon
