EABA v2 playtest

As a crunchy, generic system,
EABA
might not be everyone's cup of tea here, but because there are a lot of really sharp designers roaming these parts, I figured it is worth an announce. The new
BTRC
site is
finally
up and running, and the internal forums are being used for the chapter-by-chapter demolition of the
EABA v2.0
manuscript (file links are on the forum). You need to register to make comments, just to keep the bots at bay, but you should be able to snag the files as a guest if all you want to do is lurk. And if I'm doing this right, the
direct
links so far are:
rules intro:
http://www.btrc.net/media/kunena/attachments/62/EABA2_intro.pdf
characters:
http://www.btrc.net/media/kunena/attachments/62/EABA2_ch3.pdf
For those unfamiliar,
EABA
is a general purpose game engine (ala
GURPS
or
Hero
) that's been out for a decade or so, with an open license and a number of internal and third-party supplements or compatible products. It leans towards the realistic and tries for the heroic. The version 2.0 is an overdue upgrade to deal with things that I either was not satisfied with in version 1, or I've figured out a better way to do things for in version 2. If you're a mechanics person, you'll like it. If you're a settings person...well...the core rules have no setting, so in that respect you're out of luck.
EABA
does have a number of cool (IMHO) setting books, however...;)

Hi Greg,
I got the intro, but the chapter 3 link didn't work for me.
I'm looking forward to seeing this, because the NeoTerra supplement has always been one of my "must try" game books (as you remember we played it a little last GenCon), and it'd work well for both of us for me to try out the new leaner & meaner EABA with it.
Best, Ron

Odd. The link at the message:
http://www.btrc.net/forum/6-eaba-v20-development/84-eaba-v2-chapter-3-adventurers
seems to work. I just tried it. The formatting and text rendering of the pdf is a little off, which I've since corrected, but not uploaded yet. I still need to add about six pre-designed stock characters (rogue, tech, etc.), but the guts and most of the "look" is done.
Anyways, I've sent you the file via regular email. Right now I've just uploaded chapter 5 (advanced combat), so you've got a little catching up to do.
